About Level Ground Trading

Our Story

Level Ground Trading was founded in 1997 by four families living on Vancouver Island. Level Ground Tradings mission is to trade fairly with small-scale producers in developing countries, offering our customers ethical choices. We are a Direct Fair Trade company. We coined the term Direct Fair Trade in an effort to explain our business model. We say Direct because we import coffee directly and travel to the countries where our coffee is grown. We connect with producers face to face in order to establish long-term relationships. We say Fair because our mission is to return the highest possible price to the farmers who grow the coffee while upholding a comprehensive set of Fair Trade standards. In our history, we have exceeded the recognized Fair Trade price for coffee by an average of 26%.

To share our experiences and increase accountability we partner with certifying organizations to make information related to our trade transparent and accessible
