Interests: Community Development, Social Change, Sustainability Education
The staff at Ecoeverything are committed not only to green living, but more importantly to being a part of an engaged community. What does this mean? Quite simply, we do not sit on the sidelines of change. We get in there, we get our hands dirty, and we get involved. Social and Environmental issues are what we believe in. Owners and managers of the stores are involved with a number of community organizations in both Tofino and Victoria. They serve on boards for organizations and they provide volunteer time, resources, ideas, and education. Here is a snapshot of what we have done in the last few years....
2008/2009 Tofino - Gord Johns sat on the board for the Tofino Affordable Housing Committee. This organization works towards providing affordable housing in the community of Tofino.
2008/2009 Tofino - Gord Johns, owner of Ecoverything, sat on the board for the Tofino Multiplex Society. This group is working hard on bringing year round recreation to the community of Tofino.
2009/2010 Victoria - Our Victoria Manager, Megan Johns, sits on the board for the Values Based Business Network. This is currently her second year. The VBN is Victoria's business network for local and progressive businesses.
2009/2010 Tofino - Gord Johns has been elected to Tofino City Council to serve his community!
April 2010 Tofino - Helped to Organize the 7th Annual Earth Day Pancake Breakfast in Tofino. Gord Johns, owner of Ecoeverything, started this 7 years ago, and it is now the quintessential Tofino Earth Day event with the help of many other organizations! The event is a fundraiser for the Raincoast Education Society.
