Q'ente Textile Revitalization Society,

Posted: Monday, August 2, 2010

Interests: Environmental Conservation, Human Rights, International Development

Q'ente Society purchases textiles directly from the nine weaving associations we work with at a fair price determined by the weaver. We sell these textiles in North America and return the proceeds to the communities where they came from:

1. To the weaver, upon purchase of the textile

2. To the weaving association upon sale of the textile for a specific, well-researched and budgeted project of their choosing

3. To Mosqoy: Sacred Valley Youth Fund, an education fund which allows 20 students each year with demonstrated leadership skills to attend post-secondary institutions in Cusco

4. To Q’ente Society to purchase textiles and help cover operational costs

We also partner with other revitalization programs in Cusco to create a network of organizations working together to benefit a total of 30 communities (about 300 weavers) in the Peruvian Andes.
